The Nebula Research Data Fellowship Program is an experiential learning initiative designed to empower engineering undergraduate students with hands-on experience in research data analytics.
Sponsored by the Associate Dean for Research office in the Clark School of Engineering, the Nebula Fellowship provides students with research experiences that foster essential data science skills, collaboration with academic researchers, and the opportunity to solve real-world problems across various engineering fields.
Promote the development of a future workforce capable of participating in data-driven industries and/or the U.S. research enterprise.
Enhance data literacy, research competencies, and teamwork among undergraduate students.
Foster critical-thinking and problem-solving skills through collaborative exploration.
UMD undergraduate engineering students are invited to apply each fall and spring semester. If selected, these Nebula undergraduate fellows are paired with graduate and postdoctoral lab mentors from research groups within the Clark School of Engineering and trained to conduct data analytics for ongoing research projects.
Research experience and transferrable data analysis skills.
Potential for ongoing research experiences within the lab after the semester ends.
Networking and resume building.
Gain undergraduate mentoring experience.
Receive coaching in personnel and project management skills.
